serenity house

and

house of freedom and miracles

Serenity House is our men’s program that houses up to fifteen men. House of Freedom and Miracles is our woman’s program that houses up to fifteen women. We are a faith-based, recovery house that is certified through Ohio Recovery Housing. We offer a safe environment for men and women to build a solid foundation of abstinence-based recovery.

Through a holistic approach utilizing the twelve steps and twelve traditions of recovery, a safe living environment with mutual support is created. Our program is structured strategically and provides residents with an optimistic opportunity for lifelong abstinence from drugs and alcohol.

We offer a homelike environment with one-on-one guidance and mentorship from staff, 12-Step program participation, and referrals to outside agencies for GED programs, college admissions, job preparation, as well as other follow-up services. Our program was established in 2006 and has maintained a positive reputation and pillar in recovery housing in Cincinnati. If you would like to see our policy handbook, please click here. They are expected to still attend twelve-step meetings and remain engaged in the houses. Carriage House is a one-bedroom apartment that house women’s house manager lives in and is in the back of House of Freedom and Miracles. It is required that they successfully completed Serenity House or House of Freedom and Miracles.

shelter from
the storm

Shelter from the storm is the introductory period of a resident’s stay in our program. It lasts anywhere from two to four weeks and is decided on an individual basis. This program provides a safe place for our new residents to get acclimated to their new living environment. It consists of reading specific books, listening to speaker tapes, watching inspirational movies, and discussing the content with the house manager daily. The residents in the shelter from the storm are encouraged to focus on this new life, without drugs or alcohol, and gain a foundation for lifelong recovery. Shelter from the storm provides residents with the ability to attend twelve-step meetings, update their resumes, search for jobs, apply for resources in the community, and set goals for themselves.

family program

Serenity Recovery Network is the first recovery housing program in the Cincinnati area that implemented a family program dedicated to family reunification.  Family support is critical to recovery and is a huge part of the healing process.  Our Family Day Program provides families with a deeper understanding of addiction as a family disease. Our goal is to help families find better relationships with their family member who is working on recovery, find support from other families who understand the disease of alcoholism/addiction, and, if appropriate, begin the process of healing their relationships with the alcoholic or addict in recovery.  Family day provides education, support and resources for the family unit, couples, as well as individuals in the family unit. We can also provide resources or referrals as needed. The goal is to empower families to become stronger, healthier, more resilient, and happier as they navigate the sobriety journey together. By including the children of addicts and alcoholics in this learning process, they are less likely to have problems with drugs and alcohol, thereby interrupting what can be generational cycles of addiction.

recovery dinner

Every other month Serenity Recovery Network hosts a Recovery Dinner featuring guest speakers. Current and former residents, family and friends in the recovery community are welcome.  These dinners help strengthen the bonds between residents and the 12 Step program and community and alumni as they grow their recovery network and continue to shift their reliance from SRN to a life-long program of recovery.

Family members, friends of recovery & guests are invited.  The dinner is free – but bringing a side dish or dessert to share is always welcome!
