    Residence: Cincinnati, OH

    Occupation: Founder of Platte Architecture + Design, an award winning 25-person firm originating in 2002. 18th largest architectural firm in the Cincinnati tri-state region. Founder and operator of Blackrock Construction 2005-present.

    Community involvement: Serenity Recovery Network Board of Directors 2004-2016. Greater Cincinnati Recovery Resource Collaborative Board of Directors 2014-2021. Gateway House Board of Directors 2019-present. One City for Recovery Advisory Board 2023.

    Education: North Carolina State University Bachelor of Architecture Miami University Bachelor of Environmental Design, American Institute of Architects National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

    Why he is devoting time to SRN: One of my missions is providing non-profit work in the recovery community. I have strong ties to SRN and its founders and look forward to collaborating with them for the betterment and growth of the organization.

  • BOARD TREASURER

    Residence: East Row Historic District, Newport, KY

    Occupation: Self-Employed, married to Garth and mom to 2 felines.

    Professional Background: 26 years of sales and management experience with US Bank, Bristol Myers-Squibb and Abbott Laboratories. Co-owner of 2 businesses.

    Community involvement: Over the years volunteering through United Way as a Campaign Coordinator, Corporate Ambassador and speaker for Adult Mental Health to Consumers through United Way and Core Behavioral Health. Worked on the MindPeace Project with Children’s Hospital Medical Center, promoting Mental Health Awareness for children, various other local community volunteer work in Newport and is currently serving on the Board of Serenity Recovery Network, 2019-present

    Education: BA in English Literature, University of Cincinnati, Graduate of the J. Kiffin Penry Epilepsy Mini-Fellowship and certified by the Goethe Institute for proficiency in German.

    Why she is devoting time to SRN: Karin graduated from the program in March 2020, and has a member of the board since January 2021. She began serving as Treasurer in June of 2022 and continues to work on fundraising and wherever she is needed, giving back to the Organization that gave so much to her.

    Why she is devoting time to SRN: The organization is near and dear to my heart; I believe in its ability to help save lives and reunite families.

    Occupation: Self-Employed, and mother of two adorable tykes

    Professional Background: Chemical Dependency Counselor at the Center for Addiction Treatment 2013-2015 and The Health Experiences 2015-2018; Peer Support Certified 2013.

    Community involvement: Outreach worker for Recovery Link 2014-2015

    Education: BS Business with a Marketing Major - University of Phoenix

    Why she is devoting time to SRN: Allison is an alumna of SRN, graduating from the program in 2012. Since then, she has remained an integral part of the organization, committed to carrying on the legacy of love Miss Angie started.

    Residence: Milford, Cincinnati, OH

    Occupation: Retired, Social Worker

    Professional Background: Worked as a Social worker for 23 years with critically ill children and their families. Fifteen of the 20 years were as Family Service Director at Shriners Hospital for Children, working with thermally injured children. The last 3 years of employment were at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the Cancer Care Unit.

    Education: MSW, LISW with a dual undergraduate degree in Social Work and Psychology.

    Community Involvement: I became involved with Serenity Recovery Network in 2016 after my daughter became a resident of HFM. After serving for 4 years as a Board of Directors member, it became necessary for me to resign due to family health issues. In April of 2023 I rejoined the Serenity Board.

    Why he is devoting his time to SRN: As a member of the recovery community, it is my goal to give back and to help as many people as I can. I am a full believer the SRN mission and it’s an absolute honor to be a part of something so special!

    Professional Background: In-house counselor for 22 years with Standard Register, Xerox Corporation

    Community involvement: Opiate Detox Volunteer Assistant - The Engagement Center and handled all court/legal issues of the clients of Hotel California by the Sea – Cincinnati. Meal server at Our Daily Bread in OTR.

    Education: The University of Toledo College of Law, JD, Harvard Law School, University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business, certified as a CDCA in the State of Ohio

    Why she is devoting time to SRN: Through volunteering at The Engagement Center, I realized that I wanted to concentrate on helping others who suffer from a drug and alcohol disorder. Accordingly, I became certified as a CDCA in the State of Ohio. Unfortunately, the pandemic precluded me from continuing my involvement with The E Center. Being involved with SRN as an advisor, I can provide my extensive background in document negotiation and the operations of a company. This includes HR, IT and privacy matters, helping the organization navigating any legal issues/questions they may face.

    Why he is devoting time to SRN: I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of sobriety and the positive impact that sober living can have on people's lives. This personal connection drives my commitment to making a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction in any capacity.

    Not only have I struggled with heroin and alcohol addiction, but I have also been able to help others find recovery while working at Adams Recovery Center. My job there included individual SUD counseling, group counseling, and working as an Intake Coordinator. These experiences have given me insights into the unique challenges we face during the recovery process from both sides of the glass, and I have developed empathy, patience, and understanding as a result. This, coupled with an understanding of my own assets and liabilities, has allowed me to draw upon my own strengths and talents to give back. Having this opportunity to serve on the board of SRN is a full-circle moment.

    I am committed to continuous learning and personal growth. I practice remaining openminded and teachable, as to be better prepared to turn around and give back what has been freely given to me.

    I bring a genuine passion for supporting individuals in recovery, and a commitment to personal growth and learning.

    Community involvement: Has collaborated in guiding “Breathing Under Water, 12 Step Recover” workshop 2017. Y12SR Certified Instructor (Yoga of 12 Step Recovery). Currently leads Y12SR weekly.

    Co-facilitated The Calm Mind Youth Project (Youth Diversionary Program).

    Why he is devoting time to SRN: Since being taken under Ivan Faske’s wing in 2014 and being trained as the Associate Director for Serenity House, I immediately had a deep connection to the house, its staff, and residents. Having participated in many morning and evening house meditation meetings, I noticed the sense of raw empowerment that the residents would experience, maybe for the first time, and would love to help foster this atmosphere, keeping it sustainable and accessible for future generations. I joined the board in 2021 to use my skill set and experience, getting in where I fit in, to best suit Serenity Recovery Network’s primary purpose and mission.

    Community involvement: Noreen has worked with Lighthouse Youth Services, The Crossroads Center- Chaney Allen, and volunteers her time and talent mentoring recovering addicts.

    Why she is devoting time to SRN: I have continuous knowledge and experience with multiple 12 step fellowships since 4/25/80. In addition to my Independent Social Work License, I am a Certified Trauma Practitioner through The National Institute of Trauma and Loss and have taken the necessary training for State of Ohio Problem Gambling Counseling.

    Occupation: Retired, He and his wife, Leslie, have two sons, Christopher and Conner, and a daughter, Maddy.

    Professional Background: The J.M. Smucker Company - Senior Vice President, Procurement & Commodities. Dan joined Smucker 18 years ago and has 30 years of experience with Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) companies, including Procter & Gamble.

    Community involvement: Board Member Avon Hemp Solutions – September 2021 – Present, International Justice Mission, Compassion International, Habitat for Humanity, United Way – Cincinnati, Orrville, Ohio, Crossroads Community Church - Member 1997 to present, Go New Orleans Volunteer – Katrina Clean Up – 2008, Go Cincinnati Cleanups – various years.

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a marketing major, from the University of San Francisco

    Why he is devoting time to SRN: Alcoholism runs in my family, and SRN has provided a road to recovery for some, so this is an opportunity to help a wonderful organization succeed and grow. I also have close connections to the program through my friendships with the founder of Serenity House, Ivan Faske (now deceased) and Kurt Platte, another member of this Board.

    Why he is devoting time to SRN:

    SRN has always been a benchmark for a successful foundation of long-term recovery in the Greater Cincinnati area. I was born and raised in the Price Hill neighborhood and being that SRN is centered in Price Hill, it has always been near and dear to my heart. I have personally seen the positive and transformational impact that the SRN program and community has had on thousands of lives. I want to be a part of continuing that trend in the present and future.

    Why he is devoting time to SRN: Serving on the board since 2020 my goal is to be of service to the recovery community by preserving the legacy of Serenity Recovery Network. I want to use my previous board experience to strengthen the organization through improved fund raising and support from the donor community.
